HLSD to Introduce New "Teaching Professions" Course

We are very excited to share that we are introducing a "grow your own" opportunity starting next school year for our seniors at Hamilton Township High School, the Teaching Professions course.

This opportunity represents the culmination of partnerships created between Hamilton Local, Eastland-Fairfield Career Technical School, Columbus State Community College, Capital University, and Otterbein University.

Interested seniors will complete this course, preparing them for the paraprofessional certification exam in the spring of their senior year. Upon passing the exam, students can be employed full time by a school district as paraprofessionals. They will subsequently qualify to pursue bachelor's coursework online, starting with prerequisite coursework through Columbus State for two years. Afterward, they can transfer to Capital University for the final two years of coursework completion, also online. This partnership allows students to work full time in an educational setting while earning their teaching degree online.

Eastland-Fairfield will be supplying the teacher for the Teaching Professions course. Additionally, with the level of interest by our students, this course will only be available to Hamilton Local students for next school year. We are so excited on behalf of our students for this wonderful opportunity and are currently exploring additional partnerships with Eastland-Fairfield that will provide even more pathways for the students at Hamilton Local.
