Yocum Named New Varsity Cheerleading Coach

Hamilton Local School District is excited to announce the hiring of new Head Cheerleading Coach, Grace Yocum (far left). Pending Board approval, Grace will assume full responsibilities on April 12th, 2024.

An alumni of Hamilton Local, Grace served as a Varsity cheer captain during her time as a student and has spent the last three years coaching middle school and serving as a high school varsity assistant with our program. During her time coaching, she has been nominated for Ohio MS/JR. High Coach of the Year by Nfinity Athletics.

She is set to graduate from Ohio Dominican University in the spring of 2025 with a double major in PK-5 education and K-12 intervention. Grace also has aspirations to attain a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and is committed to the growth and development of her student-athletes both on and off the field.

One of Grace's key objectives as Head Cheerleading Coach is to integrate more life skills and core values into the program. She emphasizes the importance of goal setting, both short and long term, not only in cheerleading but also in the classroom and in students' lives overall. Grace's dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals aligns perfectly with the values of the Hamilton Local School District.

"After careful consideration, we believe Coach Yocum will be a perfect fit as the new leader of our cheerleading program," says HLSD Athletic Director Matt Thompson. "She has an excellent rapport with the staff and students of our district, and we are looking forward to seeing her excel in this role."

Hamilton Local School District extends a warm welcome to Grace Yocum and looks forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our cheerleading program and our community as a whole.
